Part-time Bookseller (permanent position)

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced bookseller to join our team at Maldon Books. We’re looking for a knowledgeable, friendly individual, with great customer service and, most importantly, a lover of all things literature! We’re a family-run business with a real passion for reading and promoting books. This is a chance to join a new and growing local business - and the perfect place for a book lover too!



Sundays: 11:00am - 4:00pm

Mondays: 9:30am - 4:30pm


This is a permanent position, not suited to those unable to work all-year round, with the opportunity to pick up extra hours throughout the year, especially in busy periods such as school holidays and Christmas time. Please only apply if you can commit to to the hours listed.

Ideally, due to the nature of this role, we are looking for someone who has had previous experience working in a bookshop, however, we will still consider applicants who have not.


What you’ll do:

  • Deliver excellent customer service

  • Order books for customers 

  • Process and shelve new stock

  • Demonstrate strong communications skills both in person and over the phone, email etc

  • Be confident using a computer and EPOS system 

  • Maintain the cleanliness of our store

  • Talk about the books we're passionate about - and the ones you love too!
